Fixture

We conducted a statistical analysis of patients who were eligible for follow-ups from 2019 to May 15, 2021. We found that only 77 implant fixtures were followed up, which is significantly fewer than the total number of STERI-OSS implant fixtures that we had initially planned for patients. We believe this decrease in patient visits for follow-ups could be attributed to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Description

Recall Check Time (after final prosthesis is completed)

• 37 fixtures between 3 months and 6 months
• 16 fixtures between 6 months and 12 months
• 24 fixtures over 12 months
• The total number of patients was 51, with 77 fixtures, the initial implantation began in March 2019.
• There were 17 patients who were eligible for follow-ups and we followed up 24 fixtures

Survival Rate

In cases where there was an issue with the initial fixation, it was replaced with different sizes, and all of 77 implant fixtures were found to be functioning without any problems during the Recall Check.

In the molar units, we aimed to place implant fixtures with a diameter of at least 5.0, while in the premolar units, we aimed to place implant fixtures with a diameter of at least 4.5.
We placed implant fixture with a diameter of 4.0 in the incisor units in most cases. In the cases where the bone width was narrow in the buccal area of the premolar units, we also placed implant fixture with a diameter of 4.0.

The ISQ Value was recorded twice: first when the impression taken 2 month after implantation and again when the abutment was placed 2 weeks later.
In cases involving extensive bone grafting, sinus lifts or sinus grafts, the ISQ Value was recorded first when the impression taken 4-6 months after implantation, and again when the abutment was placed 2 weeks later.
The ISQ Values were primarily recorded between 80 and 90, which was surpringly higher than expected, with two values at 60 and some falling between 70 and 80.

Marginal Bone Resorption

Statistics regarding bone loss have not been conducted yet because there have been no cases where bone loss was exceeding 1mm was observed in the panorama picture or standard x-ray picture during the Recall Check.
We believe that the observed result was likely due to the short duration of follow-ups, and if there were more number of follow-ups over a longer period, then the result might be different.
